Chrome went from about 5 percent of worldwide browser usage at the start of 2010 to roughly 15 percent by December. Version 4 added extensions in January, version 5 in May was the first stable release for Mac and Linux, and version 8 in December bundled a PDF viewer. Its minimal blue-grey frame, tabs above the address bar and single omnibox reshaped how every other browser looked.
